Every once in a while I am called to fill in for my pastor and preach. I figure that, when I do, I’ll share the sermon here.
Hello, all! Since this blog means to encompass both my thoughts on Christianity and on other stuff, I want to use the opportunity to share the my slowly refined approach to getting the best value in the smartphone market, both in plan cost and phone cost. I’ve been at this for about a year now, and I think this will be of use to someone. So far I have successfully gotten my parents, siblings, wife, and ex-pastor’s son in good shape using my basic approach here.
Note: most of this has little or no relevance outside of the US.

These are the notes I made when preaching a sermon on Romans 8:28.
All things work together for good. We are used to hearing this, but much of the depth of it is usually left out. How this happens, what it means, to whom it applies, and what difference it should make is often ignored. This is a tragedy, because in my personal opinion, Romans 8:28 is one of the most powerful and precious promises the Bible gives to believers, and as such it deserves to be completely understood and appreciated.
This being said, I want to refer back to the parts I mentioned usually are missing when people mention this verse. The statement “all things work together for good” only receives its full meaning from the answers to four important questions.
- How do all things work together for good?
- What kind of “good” is this for which all things work together?
- For whom do all things work together for good?
- What is the significance of this promise for living life?
One thing I’ve noticed is that very few Evangelicals ever use written prayers. I think, though, that they can be useful at times, especially when poetic in form. So this is what I wrote for myself, and I decided to share it.
You alone are holy.
Your splendor is unmatched,
And Your glory is incomparable.
Your holiness burns as a fire,
As the very sun around which the solar system runs.
So I glorify You,
The only true God.

Hello everyone! My name is Caleb. I am 18 years old (though I will probably be 19 by the time you read this) and married to a wonderful woman named Ashley. This is basically a place where I will express lots of thoughts, many about God, Jesus, the Bible, and Christianity in general, but also many about random other subjects which come to mind. I hope something that I post here will be of use to you.
