My Only Beef with Disney

In middle school and high school, I was a bit of a Disney geek. I admit this. I memorized every song in the first two High School Musicals and Camp Rock. I can jam out to the theme songs of Phil of the Future, That’s So Raven, The Suite Life of Zack and Cody, The Suite Life on Deck, Hannah Montana, Phineas and Ferb, Jessie, Wizards of Waverly Place, Sonny with a Chance, So Random!, and Shake It Up!, if not others as well. I have turned several Disney songs into Christian songs. Oh, and I still kind of am one now. I still watch every new Disney movie when I get a chance.

Inerrancy Will Be the Death of Me

I am a believer in Biblical inerrancy. As far as I understand, the 66 books of God’s inspired Word contain no errors on any subject on which they make any statement. Unfortunately, though, the 66 books of the Bible were written by 40+ authors over a period of nearly 2000 years. So they don’t always seem to fit right. Sometimes they look contradictory. Sometimes they look messed up. Sometimes they’re scary and confusing.

Sometimes the Bible completely stumps me.

Caleb's Ultimate Smartphone Guide

Hello, all! Since this blog means to encompass both my thoughts on Christianity and on other stuff, I want to use the opportunity to share the my slowly refined approach to getting the best value in the smartphone market, both in plan cost and phone cost. I’ve been at this for about a year now, and I think this will be of use to someone. So far I have successfully gotten my parents, siblings, wife, and ex-pastor’s son in good shape using my basic approach here.
Note: most of this has little or no relevance outside of the US.

The Expansive Grace of Romans 8:28

These are the notes I made when preaching a sermon on Romans 8:28.

All things work together for good. We are used to hearing this, but much of the depth of it is usually left out. How this happens, what it means, to whom it applies, and what difference it should make is often ignored. This is a tragedy, because in my personal opinion, Romans 8:28 is one of the most powerful and precious promises the Bible gives to believers, and as such it deserves to be completely understood and appreciated.
This being said, I want to refer back to the parts I mentioned usually are missing when people mention this verse. The statement “all things work together for good” only receives its full meaning from the answers to four important questions.

  1. How do all things work together for good?
  2. What kind of “good” is this for which all things work together?
  3. For whom do all things work together for good?
  4. What is the significance of this promise for living life?

Written Prayer for Evangelicals: Glorify the Only True God

One thing I’ve noticed is that very few Evangelicals ever use written prayers. I think, though, that they can be useful at times, especially when poetic in form. So this is what I wrote for myself, and I decided to share it.

Dear God,
You alone are holy.
Your splendor is unmatched,
And Your glory is incomparable.
Your holiness burns as a fire,
As the very sun around which the solar system runs.
So I glorify You,
The only true God.

Hello, world!

Hello everyone! My name is Caleb. I am 18 years old (though I will probably be 19 by the time you read this) and married to a wonderful woman named Ashley. This is basically a place where I will express lots of thoughts, many about God, Jesus, the Bible, and Christianity in general, but also many about random other subjects which come to mind. I hope something that I post here will be of use to you.
